Credit control software for small businesses and freelancers

Chasing overdue invoices by hand takes time you would rather spend on the work itself. FetchDue is credit control software for small businesses and freelancers who invoice other businesses. It schedules polite payment reminders within your sending hours, moves from a polite tone to a firmer one if an invoice stays unpaid, and keeps every proposed reply waiting for your review before anything goes out.

You still issue invoices from your own billing system. Add invoices manually, and then FetchDue handles the follow-up. Connect Xero (early access).

Automate the chasing, keep control of every reply

Set the hours you are happy for reminders to go out, and FetchDue sends scheduled reminders only within them, up to a daily limit. When a client replies, the proposed response waits in your review inbox. Nothing is sent on your behalf until you have read it and approved it.

That means the routine work runs on a schedule, while the conversations with your clients stay in your hands.

From polite to firm, on a schedule

The first reminder is polite. If the invoice is still unpaid, later reminders become firmer. You decide when to step in, and you can pause an invoice at any time, for example if a client has promised to pay on a set date.

You can also:

  • log payment promises, pauses and notes against each invoice, so you know where every conversation stands
  • flag clients you do not want contacted, so they are left out of reminders
  • add your logo and brand colour to quotes and emails, so reminders look like they come from your business

Add invoices manually

Add invoices manually. If you use another system, or none at all, you can add invoices by hand. Connect Xero (early access).

FetchDue reads your invoice records to know what is outstanding. It does not create or issue invoices in Xero.

Part payments and balances

Clients do not always pay in one go. When a part payment comes in, the balance owed updates, so the next reminder refers to what is actually still outstanding rather than the original total.

Example data (fictional client):

ClientInvoiceInvoice totalPart payment receivedBalance owed
Harbour Lane Design Ltd (fictional)INV-1042£1,250.00£500.00£750.00

What FetchDue does not do

It helps to be clear about the limits:

  • It does not issue invoices. You create and send invoices from your own billing system, with your own numbering, tax and business details.
  • It is not a debt recovery service. FetchDue sends reminders from your business, to your clients, on the schedule you set.
  • It does not take legal action. If a client still will not pay, you decide the next step. Our guide on what to do when a client is not paying an invoice covers the options.
